The Green Passport is the digital heart of the WildRISE project — a mobile application that transforms sustainable outdoor activities into engaging, gamified experiences. Drawing inspiration from successful gamification platforms, the app will allow users to earn points, badges, and rewards for participating in eco-volunteering, following low-impact trail guidelines, and supporting local businesses.
The app’s architecture is built around three pillars: Discovery (helping users find sustainable outdoor activities and trails), Action (tracking eco-positive behaviors like trail maintenance volunteering or wildlife monitoring), and Community (connecting like-minded outdoor enthusiasts and creating a network effect for sustainable practices).
A key innovation is the integration of real-time environmental data — users will receive personalized recommendations based on current trail conditions, wildlife activity, and weather patterns, ensuring their activities have minimal ecological impact while maximizing enjoyment. The development team is currently in the UX research phase, conducting interviews with outdoor sports practitioners across five European countries.
