WildRISE Kicks Off: A New Era for Outdoor Sports in Europe

The WildRISE consortium gathered in Madrid for the official project kick-off, bringing together all six partners from across Europe. Over two intensive days, the team aligned on the project’s ambitious goals: transforming outdoor sports into a tool for regenerative tourism, environmental stewardship, and rural development.

Key outcomes included the definition of work package timelines, the establishment of communication protocols, and initial planning for the Blue Passport governance framework and Green Passport digital platform. Partners shared regional insights from the Pyrenees, Alps, and Carpathian mountain ranges, highlighting both shared challenges and unique opportunities.

The kick-off also featured a roundtable with local stakeholders from the Madrid outdoor sports community, reinforcing the project’s commitment to grassroots engagement from day one. With a clear roadmap now in place, WildRISE is ready to begin its mission of redefining how Europe approaches nature-based tourism and active outdoor recreation.
